Professor O. S. Balogun studied Phytopathology, specializing in Virology in the laboratory of Plant Pathology, Faculty of Agriculture, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Fuchu shi, Tokyo Japan. He was the former Head of the Department of Crop Protection at the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) and also a former Director of the Unilorin Sugar Research Institute. He is interested in plant diseases especially those caused by viruses and fungal pathogens. His research efforts have been on general phytopathology, epidemiology, molecular host-pathogen interactions, search for sustainable control strategies in resource-poor climes, etc.
